GATHERING  INFORMATION

What do I bring?

Anyone who wishes to take part in the gift exchange may bring an Exchange Gift valued at $15.00 or more. This should be in a box or container that is see-through so everyone can admire the contents. Plastic wrap works as well as a clear lid. The Exchange Gift will be turned in on Friday afternoon/evening at registration. During the weekend, names will be drawn to receive the gifts. You bring one; you receive one. Of course, if you do not wish to participate in the Exchange, you do not have to do so.

 If you said that you would bring Tote Bag Favours, *Gathering Helpers, Displays or Centrepieces, give them to the appropriate conveners at the time of registration. It is helpful if Tote Bag Favours are mailed ahead of time to Marilyn Kading, 532 Hale Street , London , ON N5W 1G8 .

At the Saturday night banquet, it is usual to exchange Table Gifts. There will be eight people seated at each table; therefore, you need to bring seven Table Gifts to give to your table mates. These are usually hand made by the giver, but it is not necessary. The value can be from $2.00 each to priceless.

Don't forget to bring your mini tool box filled with any supplies and tools you need to complete your Pre-registered Workshop.

* Gathering Helpers are raffled off to help defray overall Gathering expenses. They are donated items (e.g., a doll, piece of furniture, or room box) with a value of at least $50, usually handcrafted, and small enough to be easily carried home by the winner. Tickets are sold throughout the weekend and the draws are held at Sunday's lunch.

What do I do when I get there?

Check-in time for the hotel starts at 3:00 pm. One person in each room must provide a credit card or pay a cash deposit. Credit cards will not be charged and cash will be returned, if no telephone calls or room service fees are charged to the room.

After checking in to the hotel and finding your room, come to the Gathering Registration desk in the back lobby (side door) to receive your registration package. You'll want to put on your name tag as it is your entrance to all functions.

The conveners in charge of receiving Tote Bag Favours, Centrepieces, Displays, Exchange Gifts or Gathering Helpers will be near the registration table and they will be happy to receive them from you.

What happens Friday evening?

Friday is an informal evening where we "meet and greet" old friends and make new ones before, during and after dinner which is served buffet style in the Regency Ballroom. The buffet dinner will start at 6:00 p.m. and will end by 8:00. There is no set seating at the tables this evening.

At 8:00 p.m., after dinner, the Co-ordinaters will welcome you and present the Committee Members who have been working for two years to make this 2008 Gathering a great one.

The Round Table Workshop kits will be offered for sale from 8:30 p.m. to 9:00. These are short, inexpensive workshops that take place on Sunday morning. You will have the opportunity to complete the kits with the assistance of a teacher.

At 9:15 p.m. the Artisans' Mart will open in the Chelsea Ballroom and it will close at 10:45 p.m. During this time, the displays will be available for viewing in the Cambridge Room.

Where do I get breakfast?

On Saturday and Sunday mornings, come down for a buffet breakfast from 7:00 to 8:30 a.m. in the Crystal Ballroom North. Again, you can sit wherever you wish. Unless your room is very near the workshop rooms, you might want to bring your workshop tool box with you to breakfast. Pre-registered Workshops will begin right after breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, and Round Table Workshops on Sunday.

Are there coffee breaks and when is lunch?

The Workshop Instructor will let you know when it is time for coffee breaks in the morning and afternoon, and when it is time for lunch. There is set seating for lunch, so find your assigned table and meet your new table mates. Please wait to open the souvenir until advised to do so by your table hostess.

What time do Workshops end?

The Workshops will end on Saturday between 4:30 and 5:00 p.m. This will give you time to rest and get changed for the Garden Party Cocktail Hour and Banquet.

When is check-out time?

Check-out time for the hotel is 11:00 a.m. so you need to take your luggage to your vehicle and check out of the hotel before that time.

Is there anything special about Sunday Lunch?

Sunday lunch is from 12:15 to 2:30 p.m. in the Crystal Ballroom North. It is set seating at the same tables as you had for Saturday lunch and dinner. We draw for the Gathering Helpers, give out the last of the Exchange Gifts, receive our third souvenir, and learn about the 2009 Gathering.
